Beatles mania has hit Liverpool this week

It's time for Beatles mania on Merseyside again - as International Beatles Week for the Fab Four begins today.

In the run up to the Mathew Street Festival on Sunday four days of Beatle-based events and performances will take place across the city.

Organisers predict it'll attract thousands of visitors over the next week - when two hundred bands will perform.

Jamie Bowman from The Beatles Story on Albert Dock told us that people from all over the world will be visiting the festival, organised by Cavern City Tours.

And the fact that school groups are attending the festival and the Beatles are part of the National Curriculum means that the festival shows no sign of dying out.

As well as performances from bands, the festival will also feature a convention, art exhibitions, flea markets, guest appearances, interviews, autograph sessions, an auction and loads more.

On Sunday The Mathew Street Festival kicks off with two days of live music in the home of the Cavern Club.
