Christmas has rolled into Manchester!

The festive markets were officially opened by John Thompson - who came straight from rehearsals for pantomime Peter Pan.

There are 200 stalls, stacked high with crafts, food, art, fashion and gifts from all over Europe, and the market spreads through New Cathedral Street, Exchange Street, Brazennose Street, St Anne's Square and Albert Square.

And despite credit crunch worries... many stallholders said that the city was still upbeat.

Stallholder Feissler told us that people are complaining more in Germany!

So, make sure you head down to the markets to sample the delicious fare on offer!

The markets will be open until December 22.
