Chris Best and Producer Simon from the More Music Smooth Breakfast visited Manchester Dogs Home to see for themselves the situation facing dogs homes in our region.
Many dogs have been abandoned and rescue homes are doing what they can to help rehome animoals or provide the medical assistance they require.
Chris and Simon learnt that animals are abandoned for a variety of reasons - some more surprising than others. Many of these animals will be rehomed within a month but occasionally there are what the home call 'sticky' animals - these are much herder to rehome and extra efforts are made for these animals.
