Since being a member of one of the world’s most successful family groups - and taking time out to raise a family of her own - Sharon Corr has visited Smooth Radio to share her reasons for returning to the road and releasing a new album!

Sharon also tells us how becoming a mother has changed her attitude to life: “I feel myself more vulnerable… I’m more aware of what a precarious world we live in.”

The Corrs came from Dundalk in Ireland to become one of the most successful artists of recent years, with more than 30 million records sold around the world. Sharon’s not looking to replicate her successes – this is a very different path.

She told Smooth Radio: “I’m not trying to compete with The Corrs I’m just trying to play music.”

Sharon Corr MBE, on vocals and violin, was unique within The Corrs’ songwriting circle. Her sisters and brother used to write in various combinations, but Sharon tends to write on her own, penning the hits So Young, Radio, Goodbye, Hideaway, Long Night and the Grammy-nominated instrumental Rebel Heart.

She said: “Radio I wrote the day after So Young - I had a very creative 24 hours!”

Now Sharon has chosen her own path with the writing, recording and release of her debut solo project. She has already formed her own 7-piece live band and thrilled crowds at the Isle of Wight and Glastonbury festivals, with more live dates to come, including dates in France and Belgium.
